FAQ's

JAGA offers elite junior golfers top-tier education and pathways to the WAGR points, and college or professional careers. The JAGA International Series includes 30+ annual events, with a player’s top four performances counting towards the Order of Merit. The season ends with a grand finale at JAGA’s UAE campus each April, marking the start of the next tournament year.

The JIS will deliver an Order of Merit for the Asia Pacific Region that is the first ranking system of Juniors and Amateurs in the region.

Participants in JIS events will earn both WAGR and JIS Order of Merit points. Top performers will be invited to prestigious regional events, while the top 40 on the JIS Order of Merit will receive fully sponsored invitations from JAGA to the series finale at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club in April.

  • JIS-OOM events are open for all amateurs under the age of 23 yrs.
  • Further classification of age groups is as follows:
    • U 13 : Should not have turned 13 by the first day of the tournament.
    • U 15 : Should not have turned 15 by the first day of the tournament.
    • U 18 : Should not have turned 18 by the first day of the tournament.
    • U 23 : Should not have turned 23 by the first day of the tournament.
  • If a participant moves to a higher age category within the year, they can choose to compete in that category from the start of the calendar year by notifying JIS and local organizers. Once opted, they cannot return to their original age category for any JIS tournaments.

  • Overall Boys / Overall Girls OOM will represent the overall standings from the participants in the U 15, U 18 and U 23 age categories. It is therefore imperative that all participants from these categories (U15, U 18 and U 23) play from the same Tee Box (akin to WAGR).
  • U 13 Boys and Girls are not eligible for the Overall OOM, unless one decides to play the higher age category (and the appropriate Tee Box).
  • There is no separate OOM for the U 23 participants.

  • All JIS-OOM events must comply with WAGR guidelines. For detailed criteria, refer to WAGR compliance.
  • The minimum field size is 8 players.
  • Tournaments must be scheduled for at least 54 holes of stroke play over 2 or 3 rounds.
  • Competitions must be held on successive days, though breaks between phases are allowed.
  • Weather or safety-related cancellations or reductions in rounds do not necessarily disqualify an event from being counted.
  • Each event organizer is limited to three (3) counting events per gender per calendar year on the same course.
  • Courses must have a minimum Par of 64, or a pro-rata value for courses with fewer than 18 holes.
  • Distance adjustments are only permitted for gender in mixed-gender competitions.
  • Playoffs or tie-breakers must involve playing golf over one or more holes; otherwise, the result will be recorded as a tie.
  • Results must list players from the winner to the last place, based on score or points, including all competitors.
  • All players must conform to the Rules of Amateur Status published by the R&A and USGA, effective January 1, 2023.
  • Players must have a valid Handicap Index (H.I.) as of January 1, 2024.

  • The JIS-OOM will use an in-house algorithm to dynamically award points to the top 20 finishers and ties. Points will be allocated based on a percentage of the tournament’s “power,” which is determined by several factors, including:
    • Total Number of Players
    • Number of WAGR-Ranked Players: Weightage varies depending on the ranks, categorized as beyond 2000, up to 2000, up to 1000, up to 600, and less than 300.
    • Course Length: Different categories based on gender and course length will contribute differently to the tournament’s power:
      • Boys: Less than 6600 yds, 6600–7000 yds, and More than 7000 yds
      • Girls: Less than 6000 yds, 6000–6500 yds, and More than 6500 yds
    • Course Par
    • Participant Scores Relative to Course Length: For example, under-par scores on a longer course will earn bonus points compared to similar scores on a shorter course.
    • Quality of Tournament Conduct: Factors like live scoring, media coverage, and opening and closing ceremonies will also influence the tournament’s power.

  • The grand finale of the JIS-OOM will be held every April at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, and Golf Club. A maximum of 120 players (80 boys and 40 girls) from the U15, U18, and U23 categories will compete.
    • Participants will be selected based on JIS-OOM rankings or invitations.
    • The Championship includes individual and team events.
    • Top 2 boys and the top girl from each country, as well as the top 20 boys and top 10 girls from the Overall Merit list, will receive full exemptions (covering accommodation, local transport, rounds, cart and caddy fees, welcome dinner, and prize-giving lunch, but not airfare).
    • One team manager per country will also receive full sponsorship.
    • The remaining participants, including wild cards, will be chosen at the discretion of JIS Leadership.

Prizes awarded at the grand finale:

    • U15 Boys: Top 3
    • U15 Girls: Top 3
    • U18 Boys: Top 3
    • U18 Girls: Top 3
